Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good Strong relationships are in place between parents and staff. Parents say that they are very happy with the provision. They feel it provides their children with a friendly and safe environment where they are well cared for.

Good links have been established with the local schools. Staff keep up to date with themes and topics that children are learning about in school and plan activities to complement and continue these experiences. Self-evaluation is effective.

The manager gathers the views of children, parents and staff to identify the strengths of the setting and areas for further improvement. Staff have a good understanding of what children need a...fter a busy day at school. They provide a wide range of resources and activities that links with children's interests.

Children laugh, play, have fun and happily invite staff to join in their games. Children's behaviour is good and they are rewarded for this. For example, staff and children add compliment slips to a jar every time children or staff do something that is positive.

These add up to a reward and help to raise children's self-esteem and self-worth. It is not yet outstanding because: Occasionally, during creative activities staff focus on the end product rather than allowing children to express their own ideas and creativity. Staff do not always make the best use of opportunities and resources to enhance children's technology skills and to help them learn how things work.
