This provision meets requirements As staff collect children from their classrooms, they warmly greet each child and tell them about the activities taking place at the club. Children cannot contain their excitement and their laughter fills the air.
They were keen to greet the inspector and asked him to sit with them while they have snack. Children talk about how fun the club is and state that it is 'just perfect'.Children have a strong sense of belonging and develop secure friendships.
They show positive attitudes towards their play and their behaviour is remarkable. They regularly embrace each other with hugs and cheer their friends on while playing footba...ll. Staff get fully involved in the array of exciting activities.
Children relish these moments and beam with delight while staff play ring games with them.Staff support children's large-muscle skills exceptionally well. They provide scooters for children to use and test their physical endurance while using climbing apparatus.
Children talk about the importance of healthy living. They discuss the significance of visiting the dentist and why they need to brush their teeth. Children develop good levels of independence.
They help to tidy toys away, take care of their personal belongings and help to clean plates away after they have eaten. Children develop the necessary skills in readiness for their next steps in play and learning.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The provider has failed to notify Ofsted of a change in the manager at the club.
However, the provider has taken prompt action to rectify this shortfall. Robust recruitment checks, including suitability checks, have been completed on the manager, which deem her suitable to work with children. This means that there is no impact on children's safety.
Leadership at the club is strong and they strive for excellence.The highly inspirational manager leads the club with an absolute conviction that all children will thrive. She is an advocate for playwork and has created a club that is a hub of excitement.
Self-evaluation is accurate and includes the views of parents, staff and children. Leaders monitor improvement plans with precision and want the highest calibre of play and care for all children.The manager has developed a play programme, which is built on what children already know and can do.
She works closely with class teachers, parents and staff to ignite children's interest through fun activities. Children beam with delight while enacting roles of chefs and show excellent concentration skills while operating computer programs.Leaders give staff well-being high priority.
Staff morale is high, and they report that working at the club is 'fantastic'. Supervision and appraisal systems are robust. Staff attend a variety of training programmes and share best practice.
The manager aspires for all staff to gain higher qualifications in playwork.Partnership working is a strength of the club. Links with the host primary school are highly effective and the headteacher commends the manager and staff for their hard work.
Parents are kept informed of their children's time at the club and comment that the club is 'amazing'.The support in place for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is excellent. Leaders ensure that children with SEND get the support that they rightly deserve.
Links with external professionals are good and intervention plans are effective. Children with SEND flourish at this first-rate club.Care practices are superb.
Staff support children exceptionally well during the settling-in period. The key-person system is highly successful and supports children's emotional well-being. Children form secure bonds with staff and are proud to be part of the club.
Staff teach children incredibly well about the world that they live in. Children relish opportunities to help people who are less fortunate than they are. For example, they help to collect clothing for homeless people and take part in fundraising events.
This supports children incredibly well for life in modern Britain.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Leaders ensure that all staff attend safeguarding training.
They update policies to reflect changes in legislation and statutory guidance. Staff are trained in first aid and understand how to deal with accidents and injuries. Leaders deploy staff well and staff supervise children with vigilance.
The premises are safe and secure. Robust risk assessments are in place and staff carry out daily safety checks. Staff are aware of the possible signs and indicators of abuse and neglect.
They know the referral procedure and understand the steps to take if they have a concern about a colleague. Staff know safeguarding issues, such as female genital mutilation, cuckooing and spiritual possession. They teach children about 'stranger danger' and e-safety.
