Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good • Staff supervise children well. They complete safety checks of the environment, indoors and outdoors, and remove any identified hazards. Staff meet the required child-to-adult ratios at all times.

This promotes children's safety. • Staff attend supervision meetings to reflect on their practice. The new manager provides training for staff as a way to develop their teaching skills.

For example, she shows staff how to use sign language when they talk to children. This contributes to children's understanding of spoken words. • Staff strive to promote positive relationships with parents.

They share information with them about children's achiev...ements. Staff offer parents advice and support about how they can continue their children's learning at home. For example, they give them resources to promote children's early writing skills.

• Staff provide opportunities for children to learn about the world. For example, they show children how to count to five in French. Children develop their knowledge and understanding of the languages people speak in other countries.

• Children make good progress in their physical development and have regular opportunities to be active. For example, they ride on tricycles and experiment with different ways of moving. Children are at the expected levels of development for their age.

• Occasionally, during group activities, staff do not consistently provide age-appropriate learning opportunities for younger children. • Occasionally, there is a tendency for some staff to supervise children's play rather than deepen their learning and enjoyment outdoors. • The provider does not make the best use of monitoring information to identify how she can help children to make the highest rates of achievement.
