This provision meets requirements In this after-school club, children are happy and secure.
They focus on their play and are curious about their surroundings. The staff, knowledgeable about childcare, have created a programme of activities that engage children during their time at the club. Playing table football with others helps young children develop their turn-taking and social skills.
When they play football outdoors, children improve their coordination, balance and core strength. As the children are of different ages, they form close friendships with those older or younger than themselves, which helps them develop their social skills further. The sta...ff know the children in their care well, building strong relationships with them and their families.
The staff also help children learn about their local community, such as by participating in the local carnival and inviting parents to join in. This helps the children learn and develop. The staff stay in touch with the on-site school to ensure they are aware of each child's needs and developmental stage, for example what activities children have taken part in recently.
Children feel safe and understand the daily routine. They are encouraged to develop their creative skills through activities. like cutting, drawing and making greetings cards for their friends.
There is a focus on guiding children to develop their physical skills and children enjoy playing outdoors in the fresh air. Staff support children as they explore outdoor equipment and create various ball games, helping children to build their throwing and catching skills.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Staff regularly reflect on their practice, ensuring they work towards continuous improvement.
They recognise the importance of keeping up to date with relevant training. They make sure their training has a positive impact on the children's experiences in the after-school club. For instance, a recent course enabled staff to review the environment, leading them to move activities and furniture to different areas of the room, creating a calming space for children who prefer quieter activities.
Parents provide positive feedback, commenting that children enjoy attending the after-school club and the activities on offer. Communication is effective, ensuring parents are well informed about their children's activities and behaviour.Staff understand the needs of families in the wider community and know how to provide an inclusive service that welcomes all children.
They encourage children to celebrate cultural festivals such as the Lunar New Year. However, staff do not always provide children with a broader range of information, to guide children to have a deeper understanding of the wider world and other cultures.Children are kind, friendly and polite.
They share their toys willingly and understand how their behaviour impacts others. With a positive attitude towards learning, they enthusiastically participate in activities provided by the staff. Staff help children to develop their independence skills, such as hanging up their coats and bags and accessing activities independently.
When it is time to tidy up, children respond to requests and eagerly put away activities. They form good friendships, and the staff teach them to have good manners, saying please and thank you.There is a focus on guiding children to develop their physical skills and children enjoy playing outdoors in the fresh air.
