What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children receive a warm welcome into the club and settle quickly to their free choice play activities. They re-kindle friendships that they made previously or from attending the same school.

They chat animatedly and talk about each other's personalities and traits. Children show great respect for each other and staff. They listen intently to instructions from staff, including those for their safety and well-being.

For example, staff talk about reminders of the rules in place and children show that they understand the reasoning for these to keep them safe and well. Children have time in the routine to have free play and to ...take part in the activities staff plan. This helps to offer children different experiences, such as in the preparation of food, enhancing their understanding of healthy eating.

Children develop strong bonds with staff and comment to their parents about their good relationships. Children reflect this, such as when they create a drawn masterpiece of themselves with a member of the team and give this to them as a gift. Staff fully value their achievement and offer gratitude and praise for their present.

Children enjoy being physically active and join in with enthusiasm with the activities. For example, to get to know each other, staff create a game to enable children to make connections with others they might not know. They link together, asking them to group themselves together with others who have the same favourite things, such as a colour or television programmes.

Children reflect that these games help them to make friends.

This enables staff to continually build on their practice and knowledge.Staff follow the intent and ethos of the club, building positive attitudes and relationships and, importantly, enjoying their time at the setting. Staff assess the areas of the school children use.

Through their reflective practice and approach, leaders have made recent changes to the risk assessment process to refine this further.Parents comment positively about the friendly staff team. They receive daily feedback about the activities their children have participated in and any other relevant information, such as accidental injuries.

Parents report that the process for parents to register their children's details is effective and that some travel a distance to use this provision. There is strong and effective support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities with staff in place to coordinate and liaise with parents.
