What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children run and play joyfully at this welcoming holiday club. Staff greet children warmly and invite them outdoors to the play equipment. Children climb and balance with confidence.
They talk together about how much they enjoy gymnastics. Staff develop good relationships with children. They talk to them about their exciting camping trips and summer holiday experiences.
Leaders have created a consistent approach to supporting children's positive behaviour. Staff clearly explain to children what is expected of them and how to keep safe throughout the day. Children follow instructions with ease.
For example, when it... is time to change activities, children listen well and promptly line up when they are asked.Staff provide activities that keep children interested and engaged. For example, they devise a 'fun with food' topic.
This is planned to inspire children's conversations about fruit and vegetables. Children focus well as they add different fruit pieces to skewers. They speak confidently about the importance of having five fruit and vegetables each day.
Staff and children talk about the different elements of a balanced diet as they discuss their favourite foods.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Leaders plan the day to ensure children have plenty of opportunities to be active and enjoy the outdoors. For example, they encourage children to use equipment, such as balls and hoops in the large outdoor playground.
Staff encourage children's enthusiasm when children run between coloured hoops. Children giggle with delight as they learn how to play new games. Children are engaged and full of joy.
Staff recognise how to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They gather information about children's needs from parents ahead of their attendance at the holiday camp. This means that staff have a good understanding of strategies they can use to support each child.
Furthermore, staff receive training on how to adapt activities to increase participation from all children.Mealtimes are sociable and well-organised. Children receive clear information from staff about the hot food available.
Children confidently make their own choices. For example, staff encourage children's independence, such as when they clear their own plates when they have finished eating. Children sit together and talk about the exciting games they have played during the morning.
Older children include younger children in their conversations. They ask them what they have enjoyed doing the most. Children are kind and friendly.
Children learn how to keep themselves safe and manage their self-care needs. For example, staff have conversations with children to help them understand good health. They regularly encourage children to take breaks in the shade and to drink plenty of water.
Children discuss that this is important, especially in the hot weather. Children receive consistent messages that support their knowledge of healthy lifestyles.Staff positively describe the high-quality training they receive.
For example, they attend training that develops their understanding of the values and vision of the holiday club.
