Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good Children settle well into the club after a day at school.

Staff help them to feel at ease. They plan activities well and make sure everybody feels welcome and included. Leaders and staff build positive relationships with parents and other professionals.

For example, they gather information from parents before children start to ensure that they understand individual needs and interests. The well-established partnerships with teaching staff at the schools that children attend effectively complement the way that key persons offer continuity in children's care. Staff use sensitive and caring interactions, and children form positive and trusting relatio...nships with staff and other children.

Staff encourage children's positive behaviour well. This includes the use of effective strategies and positive role modelling. Staff support children's personal, social and emotional development effectively.

They encourage children to play together, and older children offer help and support to younger ones. It is not yet outstanding because: At times, staff are less successful in supporting some younger children to focus and concentrate, such as in group activities, in comparison to older children. Occasionally, staff do not make the best use of opportunities to support children to pursue their play ideas.
