Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good Staff are friendly and encouraging, and consistently motivate children to do things for themselves. Children independently put on their shoes, pour their own drinks and serve food at mealtimes.

They persevere at their chosen tasks and develop a positive attitude towards learning, which helps to prepare them well for starting school. Since the last inspection, the provider has worked hard to increase the support she provides to staff and has successfully improved the quality of teaching. She meets regularly with individual staff to review their practice and discuss areas for development.

For example, she has effectively helped staff to become more a...ware of and slow the speed at which they speak to children. Staff make accurate assessments of children and use this information effectively to plan stimulating and enjoyable activities, which helps all children make good progress. Partnerships with parents are good.

Parents receive regular and detailed information about their children's learning and how they can extend this further at home. It is not yet outstanding because: At times, staff do not teach communication and language as well as possible, to teach children new words, and give them enough time to think about and answer questions. Although staff remind children of health and safety practices and routines, they do not consistently support children to understand the reasons for them, to help them learn to follow the rules without staff's prompts or explanations.
