Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good Staff are welcoming and friendly. They get to know the children and their families well.

This contributes to the positive relationships that children develop with the staff and each other. Staff provide a wide range of interesting toys and activities. They support children to become active learners as they are given the time and freedom to initiate their own play.

Staff promote children's speech and language development well. Small-group activities particularly help children who need extra support with their speech to learn new words and extend their vocabulary. Good partnerships with parents and schools are established.

Parents are well i...nformed about their children's progress and receive advice to support children's learning further at home. The manager shares information with schools to support continuity of care and learning. The manager, staff and the committee all have a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the provision.

They reflect and contribute to help ensure that the setting continues to make improvements and secure good outcomes for all children. It is not yet outstanding because: Children are not provided with enough opportunities to practise writing for a variety of different purposes. Staff do not make the best possible use of opportunities to enhance children's awareness of numbers and counting.
