This provision meets requirements Children receive a warm welcome when they arrive at this lively and well-organised club. Staff carefully register children and encourage them to independently put away their coats, bags and water bottles. Staff and children chat about what has happened during the school day and the activities on offer at the club.
Relationships between staff and children are relaxed and positive. There are clear expectations of children's behaviour at the club, which all children understand. Children politely say please and thank you at snack time and staff are full of praise and appreciation for their good manners.
Outside, children know ...the areas where they can play and explain that they always need to be within sight of an adult, so that they are safe.The club has a keen focus on supporting children to make healthy choices. Children choose from a range of appetising and freshly prepared food.
Staff encourage them to try to include a variety of vegetables and fruit on their plate. Children know to regularly drink water to keep themselves hydrated. They confidently explain they always wash their hands before eating to remove any germs.
This demonstrates how staff support children to understand how to become independent in managing their own needs and how to develop healthy lifestyles.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Staff create a environment with a range of areas for children to relax, play and take part in planned activities, such as arts and crafts. Children have lots of fun playing in the dressing-up area.
They choose costumes, such as superheroes or characters from books, and add accessories like sunglasses. Children chatter and laugh as staff help them to put on the costumes and fasten them up. They proudly show off their outfits as they walk around the room.
This shows how children are confident to make choices and are emotionally secure.Children concentrate hard as they create collages of Easter eggs. They select materials, such as foil and tissue paper, and stick them carefully to the paper.
Children watch attentively as staff demonstrate how to curl ribbons to apply as a finishing touch. They hold their pictures up proudly for everyone to see. Staff are full of admiration and praise children for their efforts.
This supports children to be confident and to take pride in their achievements.Staff support children to get lots of fresh air and exercise at the club. Children enjoy playing with bats, balls and a range of other small equipment.
