Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good Staff stimulate children's interest in books. For instance, they read stories that children already know and question them skilfully to help them think about what happens next.

This helps children build on their early literacy skills. Children make good progress towards their next stages in their learning. Staff use consistent and positive approaches to help children understand what is expected of them.

For instance, they teach children to use 'gentle hands' and 'listening ears'. Children behave well and build positive relationships with each other and staff. The manager works well in partnership with other professionals and supports good continuit...y of care and learning.

For instance, she invites other professionals to observe children at the nursery and shares information effectively to support them to plan well for individual children's needs. Children learn to operate electronic toys, such as a toy keyboard. They learn to use controls, such as the mouse as they play interactive games on the play laptop.

These activities help them build on their early understanding of the use of technology. It is not yet outstanding because: Occasionally, staff miss some opportunities to consistently support children to learn to take age-appropriate responsibilities and build further on their independence skills. Staff do not make best use of opportunities during activities to help encourage young children to extend their thoughts and ideas creatively.
