Pupils at Cooper Perry Primary are happy, well cared for and valued.

The calm, welcoming atmosphere means that pupils enjoy coming to school each day. Staff know pupils well. Warm relationships between pupils and staff create a true sense of belonging.

Pupils trust staff to listen to and support them with any worries they may have.Pupils show the school's values of kindness and respect through their positive behaviour. Bullying is rare.

Pupils develop positive attitudes to their learning.Although outcomes at the end of key stage 2 are close to national averages, the teaching of the curriculum needs improving. Older pupils move through school with gaps in their English and mathematics knowledge.

These are ...not identified or addressed swiftly enough. Across school in wider curriculum subjects, checks of pupils' learning are not consistent or effective. This means that pupils do not secure the knowledge they need in these subjects before moving on.

The school provides an inclusive environment for all groups of pupils, including those with additional barriers such as special educational needs and/or disabilities. Although support is put in place for these pupils, this does not effectively meet the needs of those who receive it.The school provides a wide offer of opportunities and experiences for its pupils.

Trips are carefully planned, bringing learning to life. Pupils are keen to take on leadership roles, for example, as house captains and wellbeing ambassadors. Pupils carry out these roles responsibly.
