Back in 2009, when we were considering moving home; we didn't know where we wanted to move to, but we definitely wanted to be near good local schools for our children. Every time we found a potential area, we spent hours trawling the web gathering information on schools. It took us ages and quickly became very frustrating.
Being a software developer Lewis decided to solve our problem, by building our own tool. That tool was the original version of Locrating.com, a ground breaking website which has grown to become the UK’s most popular and trusted schools information site, attracting more traffic than even Ofsted itself!
Using Locrating.com we had located an area we wanted to move to and started browsing property websites, we were struck but the complete lack of credible and useful schools’ information on estate agent websites. Furthermore, when we came to listing our own property which was located in the catchment area of a highly sought-after outstanding primary school and within easy reach of a train station, we felt frustrated by the lack of marketing on offer for our property’s most bankable asset, it’s location!
So, we decided to deliver a slice of the Locrating magic to estate agents by designing a state-of-the-art plugin, that would offer visually captivating and easy to understand local information that integrated seamlessly into estate agent websites. Our first clients signed up locally and we listed our own property with them, our property sold in no time to a family with children ready to attend the highly sought-after local school! Wonderfully, after all these years, nearly all those first clients we were so delighted to sign up are still working with us today and we have grown and blossomed into a leading supplier of proptech solutions to the industry.
With a background in creativity and design, Erica has been key in developing Locrating's unique ability to communicate visually. Forced to hit the ground running in sales, marketing and all things business more than a decade ago, Erica has become a skilled businesswoman; with a passion for all things sales, creative and forging great, long-term business relationships.
Erica manages client relationships from initial introduction, through website launch all the way to long-term successful working partnerships.
A graduate of the University of Warwick, Lewis has over 30 year's experience in software development. Before starting Locrating, Lewis specialised in developing financial and trading systems for investment banks in London and has brought with him the skills and knowledge obtained from working in an environment where accuracy and attention to detail are non-negotiable.
Lewis deals with everything technical, from collating data, building and maintaining the Locrating code base to supporting clients with their plugin implementations.
